  2. Start by marinating the chicken: Mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, garam masala, salt, and lemon juice in a bowl. Add the chicken pieces, coat well, and let it sit for at least 30 minutes (overnight in fridge for best results).
  3. Heat a pan with 1 tbsp oil, add the marinated chicken, and cook on medium flame until it's lightly browned and almost cooked (about 8-10 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add butter. Once melted, add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, and cinnamon. Let them splutter.
  5. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Then add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Pour in the tomato puree, add red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric, and salt. Cook on medium heat until the masala thickens and oil starts separating (about 10 minutes).
  7. Add cashew paste and kasuri methi (crush it between your palms). Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.
  8. Now add the cooked chicken pieces, mix everything, and simmer for 10 minutes so the chicken absorbs the flavors.
  9. Finally, stir in the fresh cream, garnish with coriander leaves, and turn off the heat. Your creamy butter chicken is ready!
